Terms of Service

By accessing or using Tapas ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to all of these Terms, do not access or use the Service.

These Terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access or use the Service. By creating an account, using the API, or otherwise accessing any part of the platform, you represent that you are at least 18 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement.

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new Terms on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

Tapas is an AI energy-efficiency platform that reduces AI query costs and energy consumption through intelligent semantic caching and question categorisation. The Service includes:

Platform access — a web interface for submitting queries, viewing cached responses, and managing your account settings. API access — a REST API and SDK libraries that allow you to integrate Tapas into your own applications and AI pipelines. Smart Router — an intelligent routing layer that classifies incoming queries and serves cached answers when available, falling back to live AI inference when necessary. Analytics — dashboards showing energy savings, cache hit rates, and usage statistics.

The Service is provided "as is" and we reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature at any time with reasonable notice.

Account registration — you must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.

API keys — you may generate API keys to authenticate server-to-server requests. You are solely responsible for keeping your API keys secure. Do not share keys in public repositories, client-side code, or with unauthorised parties. If you believe a key has been compromised, revoke it immediately from your Settings page.

Account termination — we reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, engage in abusive behaviour, or remain inactive for more than 24 months. You may delete your account at any time from your account settings.

You agree not to use the Service to:

Illegal activity — submit queries or use the API in connection with any unlawful purpose, including but not limited to fraud, harassment, or intellectual property infringement. Abuse — attempt to circumvent rate limits, reverse-engineer the caching or routing algorithms, or interfere with the operation of the platform. Harmful content — submit queries designed to generate harmful, hateful, or sexually explicit content. Automated scraping — use the Service to bulk-harvest data beyond what is permitted by your API tier. Impersonation — impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity. Resale without authorisation — resell or sublicense access to the Service without our express written consent.

We reserve the right to investigate and take appropriate action against violations, including suspending or terminating access and reporting to law enforcement where required.

The following types of queries and content are strictly prohibited:

• Content that promotes violence, self-harm, or harm to others
• Queries designed to generate child sexual abuse material (CSAM) — zero tolerance, immediate account termination and law enforcement referral
• Content that violates third-party intellectual property rights
• Queries designed to extract personally identifiable information about real individuals without their consent
• Malware generation, phishing templates, or social engineering scripts
• Content that violates applicable export control laws

Tapas uses automated and manual review processes to detect prohibited content. Accounts found submitting prohibited queries will be suspended immediately and may be reported to relevant authorities.

Our IP — the Tapas platform, including its software, design, trademarks, and documentation, is owned by Tapas AI and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without our express written permission.

Your content — you retain ownership of any queries, data, or content you submit to the Service. By submitting content, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to process and store that content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you.

Feedback — if you provide feedback, suggestions, or ideas about the Service, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free licence to use that feedback for any purpose without compensation to you.

Open-source components — the Service incorporates open-source software. Applicable licences are listed in our documentation. Your use of the Service does not grant you any rights in those components beyond what the respective licences provide.

No warranty — the Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

AI accuracy — AI-generated responses may be inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated. Cached responses reflect the state of knowledge at the time they were stored. You should independently verify any information before relying on it for critical decisions.

Limitation of liability — to the maximum extent permitted by law, Tapas AI shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service.

Aggregate liability cap — our total liability to you for any claims arising under these Terms shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) USD $100.

Changes to the Service — we may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. For material changes that affect paid features, we will provide at least 30 days' notice via email or in-app notification.

Changes to Terms — we will post updated Terms on this page and update the "Last updated" date. For material changes, we will provide notice by email or prominent in-app notification at least 14 days before the changes take effect.

Termination by you — you may stop using the Service at any time. To delete your account and associated data, use the account deletion feature in your Settings page or contact us at [email protected].

Termination by us — we may terminate or suspend your access immediately, without prior notice or liability, if you breach these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which Tapas AI is incorporated, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

Informal resolution — before filing any formal dispute, you agree to contact us at [email protected] and attempt to resolve the matter informally for at least 30 days.

Arbitration — if informal resolution fails, disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of a mutually agreed arbitration body, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in a court of competent jurisdiction for intellectual property infringement or breach of confidentiality obligations.

Class action waiver — you agree that any dispute resolution proceedings will be conducted only on an individual basis and not in a class, consolidated, or representative action.
